PCI Donates 688 Units of Blood in 2004!

The final 2004 PCI Health Training Center /American Red Cross blood drive was held in December and resulted in 161 units of blood collected. Special thank you to all PCI students, staff, Enterprise Rent-A-Car and Teen & Family Care of Irving and everyone who helped give the gift of life!

The grand total of PCI blood collections during 2004 totaled 688 units!!! This translates into a potential of 2,064 lives saved! In recognition of the outstanding efforts of the School, the American Red Cross has selected Buck Heard, Director of Student Services as the recipient of the Southwest Region Donor Coordinator Award.

“I am very honored,” Buck says. “I share this honor with the Students of PCI and my colleagues and friends in the community. We all work so hard to save lives. What is more important than that?”

Expect eight blood drives on campus in 2005 as PCI continues the Schools efforts to keep blood supplies full in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

Students, Staff and Friends make History at June PCI Blood Drive

Have you ever met a hero? Heroes are quite special people. They make huge impacts on the lives of other people. True heroes rarely know the full value of their actions; they just do it because it’s in their nature.

You will meet heroes at PCI Health Training Center.

The Students and Staff of this school possess an amazing capacity to respond to important causes, like saving lives through donating blood. PCI has increasingly become an important donor site for the American Red Cross. While the school has always been involved in donating blood in the state of Texas, it was not until 2002 that the school through its involvement with the American Red Cross became dedicated to supplying thousands of units of blood to communities throughout Dallas, Fort Worth, out-lying suburbs and wherever blood is needed in the state.

Since 2002, there has been a 320% increase in the number of donations collected by the American Red Cross at PCI and the school is very close to becoming the largest blood donor account in the DFW Metroplex! At the December 2003 graduation ceremony the Red Cross awarded PCI a special plaque in recognition of 421 pints of blood collected on campus for 2003.

2004 is going to be even bigger! The February drive saw 154 units collected and the June resulted in a record-breaking 187 units! That’s 341 units and we still have the Fall PCI Blood drive around the corner.

To find a hero, one needs to look no further than the diversity of smiles and hearts that are found in the offices and classrooms around campus. Thank you to all the heroes at PCI. You generosity has made a difference in the lives of others.
