PCI SCHOOL ADMISSIONS POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

If you believe PCI's Health Training Centers programs might be the right choice for you, we welcome your application for admission to the school. Applications for admission to the school are accepted at any time but students will only be able to start their training programs on specific starts dates (generally, start dates are once a month for both the Dallas and Richardson campuses)

General PCI Admission Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for admission, an applicant must have a

• High School Diploma
• General Educational Development (GED), or
• Be beyond the age of compulsory public school attendance and demonstrate the ability to benefit from the training offered**

Before a potential student can be accepted for admission to PCI, he/she must:

• Be Interviewed by a PCI Admissions Representative
• Tour the School facilities
• Provide Proof of HS Diploma, GED or Pass Applicable Ability to Benefit From Testing Examination
• Complete an Enrollment Agreement
• Arrange Tuition Financing in the PCI Financial Aid Office
• Receive Approval from the PCI School Director

** Students wishing to pursue training in the Patient Care Technician or Psychiatric Assistant program must have a High School Diploma or GED Certificate.

ABILITY-TO-BENEFIT (ATB) TESTING

If a PCI applicant is beyond the compulsory public school attendance age and does not posses a High School Diploma or GED certificate, they may be able to seek admission approval based on their ability to benefit from training. To qualify under ATB eligibility, the applicant must successfully pass a federally-approved ATB examination. PCI Health Training Center currently tests using the Wonderlic Basic Skills Test, which is approved by the U.S. Department of Education.

PCI strongly recommends that any person who is not a high school graduate and has not yet obtained the GED Certificate, do so as soon as possible. While a secondary school credential is not a requirement to enroll at PCI, nor is it a requirement for graduation, PCI strongly feels that it will greatly enhance a person’s employment potential and career path possibilities. To assist any individuals seeking assistance in obtaining a GED, PCI provides GED Preparation Class assistance and community GED training referrals. This service is offered at no cost as a public service and is open to any interested persons, not just PCI students.

FOREIGN STUDENTS

Applicants who are not citizens or permanent residents of the United States may enroll at PCI with an appropriate Student Visa granted by the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service. Foreign Students planning to attend PCI are encouraged to contact the school well in advance of their anticipated enrollment date.
